Plug and Abandonment may be dumping cement into a hole in the ground, but there are significant challenges when it comes to logging in situ cement behind the casing and downhole cutting of tubulars.
Thru-Tubing logging has been called the unachievable "holy grail" of rigless Plug and Abandonment (P&A) while downhole cutting and severance is expensive with significant challenges.
Oilfield Innovations can help with rig and rigless slickline and wireline new technology capable of severing multiple tubulars and logging thru-tubing.
Oilfield Innovations have patented a more than one way of logging through tubing during well plug and abandonment (P&A) using conventional logging tools and/or new ways of implementing convention acoustic and sonic logging signals and there is no need to pull the tubing. Use the below button to read more.
The above various conventional options for downhole cutting can be used to cut or sever one (1) tubular but what about cutting clamps, control lines and any surrounding tubulars? Fluid abrasive cutting can cut more than one tubular as shown below... but it is not a "thru-tubing" tool. A "thru-tubing" cutter than can cut through tubing, clamps, control lines and casing simultaneously would be very valuable in plug and abandonment (P&A).
Oilfield Innovations has a new way of cutting tubulars downhole! Our patented "thru-tubing" method can cut anywhere within a well bore using diamond wire deployed as a free filament similar to horticultural strimmers or "weed wackers," whereas conventional cutting of two or more tubulars is only possible near surface using abrasive jet cutting or above surface using a diamond wire saw. Diamond wire technology is a proven cutting means that can be deployed downhole on a motor to cut through tubing, control lines, clamps, casing, cement and rock, whereas conventional cutters can only cut the tubing.
